Session 2

Timberframer`s Guide to SIP Installation Workshop
Monday March 8 - Tuesday March 9, 2010

(Includes Session 1 (above) followed by Day 2 onsite at Carolina Timberworks shop
for a full day of tool review and hands on instruction).

The instructors at SIPschool are no strangers to the timber frame industry and believe the use of SIPs over a frame is a perfect marriage of old and new technologies.

Discussions will include:
connections and fastening to heavy timber
SIPs as a curtain wall
applying finishes around the frame prior to installing the panels
the air sealing details associated with timber frames
good and bad frame design

Workshop specific items:
Furring the frame and accommodating T & G or drywall
Electrical runs in a timber frame
SIP plane connection details
Sealing the corners and top of wall
Planning for timber shrinkage
Fabricating to a frame drawing

8:00am             Hands on training at Carolina Timberworks
12:00-1:00        Lunch on your own (restaurants nearby)
1:00-5:00pm     Hands on training continues at Carolina Timberworks

Session 2 Cost $225.00

Class size for Session 2 is limited to 20 students so register early!

The SIPschool has blocked rooms at the Fairfield Inn and Suites for a rate of $62.00 per night, plus 13.75% tax. Use the name "SIPschool" to make your reservations. Block will expire March 1, 2010.
